Roosters Piri Piri has been delighting London diners for almost three decades. Since turning to grilled chicken in 2010, it has gone from strength to strength and now has 47 restaurants and counting in the UK and Ireland.
Roosters Piri Piri is on a mission to prove that fast food doesn’t have to be greasy and unhealthy. The menu showcases salads, burgers, and wraps featuring the signature steamed and then chargrilled chicken in different flavors from across the world from Lebanon to Mexican to BBQ, as well as the signature Piri Piri flavors.
Garry Tooey, as Operations Manager, is in charge of the large scale delivery operation for the group, which uses delivery partners Deliveroo and Uber Eats to deliver its healthy meals all over the UK and Ireland.
Garry reveals that before Deliverect, they had issues with a messy kitchen system.
He explains: “Before we integrated with Deliverect, we didn’t have screens in our kitchens in the majority of our restaurants, which meant we were using a receipt throughout the kitchen.”
“That receipt would make its journey from the grill to the prep station, to the dispatch station, and eventually to the driver’s bag and to the customer,” Garry continues, “I’m sure you can imagine what that receipt looked like when it got to the customer.”
Not only did this system mean mistakes were liable to be made in the kitchen, say if the receipt was lost or damaged, but it also meant that the customer’s first impression of the brand was a soggy piece of paper.
Garry says that the integration with Deliverect allowed to tidy up the process for a more professional service, while also making internal operations more efficient and smooth. It also made updating menu details far quicker for the back-of-house team.
“After integrating with Deliverect, our menu push is now seamless,” he explains, “We are able to update menu items, prices, titles of menus, order availability, and item availability in an instant.”
The improvements didn’t stop there. Garry also reveals how Deliverect gave them the data points to analyze what was working in the delivery operation and what needed to be improved, leading to tangible improvements.
“Using the data from Deliverect, we’ve had an opportunity to review driver wait times and driver assignment times which we now work with our partners directly to reduce week-in week-out. That directly relates to increased revenue, therefore increased productivity in the restaurant, reducing costs and making the restaurant more profitable.”
All-in-all, the partnership with Deliverect has enabled the growing Roosters Piri Piri brand to maintain the quality and consistency present in its dine-in and takeout operations, with its delivery orders. It helps them continually improve the offering to maximize revenue at a time when many restaurants are struggling to survive.
