Introducing Food Haven, Barcelona’s hot new cloud kitchen
And how Deliverect is helping them reach their full potential
Founded in Barcelona in November 2018, Food Haven is taking a revolutionary approach to the food delivery industry. “Food Haven’s mission is to elevate the experience of food delivery. With a delivery-only business model, every dish we create is specifically designed to be transported and eaten at home,” explains José Fabregat, co-founder and CEO of Food Haven. "The food industry is evolving, and we are responding. Our goal is to drive innovative solutions to make food delivery better than ever.”
Harnessing the “cloud kitchen” concept
Food Haven is betting on disrupting Barcelona’s food delivery industry with what they call a “cloud kitchen.” Spanning 2,000 square feet, Food Haven’s cloud kitchen develops entirely new online-food brands designed to meet gaps in the food offering in the local market. Food Haven has only been operating for a month, but it’s already clear that it is answering to a growing demand for food deliveries in the cosmopolitan city of Barcelona. “As of now, we offer gourmet burgers (under the brand name Koby), sushi, and poké bowls (under the brand name Hanai), and we will soon be adding a wok and a chicken brand,” says José. “This is only the beginning because our kitchen has enough space for us to prepare food under as many as 6 different brands.”
Food Haven " was created because my business partners and I firmly believe the food industry continually evolves. Our belief is that in twenty years from now, ordering food through delivery will be less expensive than at-home cooking, and, as such, most of the cooking will be outsourced. With the way in which consumer behavior and technology are progressing, we believe that people will no longer need to go out to buy groceries, and home kitchens will eventually become obsolete. This may sound extreme, but think about it: people used to make their own clothing at home until industrialization increased production capacity and costs fell, making it easier, less expensive, and less time-consuming for people to get clothing that was already made. With the continual progression of food delivery technology and innovation, we believe the same can happen with how people consume food.”
"The food industry is evolving, and we are responding. Our goal is to drive innovative solutions to make food delivery better than ever.”
Leading with innovative solutions
“The number one focus of our delivery-only service is to provide an outstanding quality food experience from start to finish,” says José. "While many restaurants use delivery as an additional sales channel, delivery is our main distribution channel. As such, all of our dishes are optimized for takeout. For example, we don’t add lettuce or tomato to our burgers because the high water content of those ingredients can cause the bun to get soggy, especially after having been transported for 15-20 minutes.”
“Food Haven also optimizes the quality of the food delivery experience with eco-friendly packaging that is effective for maintaining peak freshness. Food Haven’s Koby burgers are placed on top of heated stones to keep them warm as they are transported from the kitchen into the consumer’s hands. With this patented packaging, consumers get a one-of-a-kind experience where the burger looks as good as if it were fresh off the grill and served to them at a sit-down restaurant. We love seeing how positive consumers are reacting to our efforts, and we are working on creating even more customization for our current and future brands.”
Partnering with Deliverect to increase efficiency
“When we created Food Haven, we knew we had to look for a delivery process integration partner. We didn’t want to start operating without an integration partner because we knew it would be time-consuming to manually insert all the orders from several different platforms (such as Glovo, Deliveroo, Uber Eats, etc.). Without a partner, we probably wouldn’t have had time to do any of the cooking!” jokes José. “Thanks to our partnership with Deliverect, we are able to streamline all of the orders coming in from the different delivery platforms and decrease the likelihood of human error that would result from working with several different software and tablets. Deliverect has proved to be a crucial partner to our business.”
“I often use the menu builder,” José continues. “It helps Food Haven duplicate menus for different sales periods with different discounts. I think Deliverect has studied the delivery industry very well and is constantly trying to find solutions to frequent problems. And whenever we need help with the integration, we can count on our account manager. I must say that Deliverect’s customer service is one of the best things so far - we always get a fast reply, even on weekends.”
