Highlights — TLDR

  1. Innovative Virtual Food Hall Concept: Kitchen Hub, founded in January 2020 in Toronto, distinguishes itself as more than a ghost kitchen. It is a collective that hosts local tastemakers and offers a diverse culinary experience from renowned brands like Fresh, Pai Northern Thai Kitchen, and The Cheesecake Factory Bakery.

  2. Enhanced Menu Management with Deliverect: The unique feature of Kitchen Hub allows customers to combine meals from different vendors into one cart, adding complexity to the ordering process. Deliverect’s integration with Square has streamlined this by handling multiple menus efficiently, reducing the labor involved in manual menu management.

  3. Increased Efficiency and Customer Satisfaction: The adoption of Deliverect has increased operational efficiency and significantly improved customer satisfaction by reducing errors in manual order entries.

  4. Expansion Plans and Deliverect’s Role: Kitchen Hub is expanding across Canada with new locations in the Toronto area. Deliverect is integral to these plans, offering both technological solutions and dedicated support, making it an essential partner for Kitchen Hub’s future growth.

Toronto’s Kitchen Hub makes Deliverect an integral part of their ambitious expansion plans.

Founded in January 2020, a virtual food hall Kitchen Hub has quickly established a formidable reputation on the Toronto food scene. Co-founder and COO Oren Borovitch explains that Kitchen Hub is more than a ghost kitchen.

“It’s a collective of small local tastemakers and a place to experience the best the city has to offer,” Oren says, “We go beyond just offering new locations to our restaurant partners.

“We take an active role in helping optimize their performance for online sales and bring them revenue-generating opportunities that come along with operating alongside other incredible brands.”

Working with Toronto’s best-loved brands, including plant-based eatery Fresh, popular Thai restaurant Pai Northern Thai Kitchen, and a dessert-only concept, including The Cheesecake Factory Bakery, Kitchen Hub aims to match the quality of the food with exceptional delivery operations. And the virtual food hall needs tech that can handle the complexities of its unique business model.

Deliverect’s menu management reduces labor costs.

Kitchen Hub has the unique feature of allowing customers to add meals from different vendors to one cart. This emulates the freedom of choice that customers would enjoy at a physical food hall. It also adds another level of complexity to the menus and ordering system.

Oren reveals that they started using Deliverect around May 2020 and found that Deliverect was excellent at seamlessly handling the complexities of multiple menus and brands.

“What we found with Deliverect specifically for our food hall, which has a very complex menu, is that its menu management and the integration into Square allowed us to stop typing in orders.”

Deliverect had an immediate impact in reducing labor and increasing efficiency.

“It took our manual menu management from being a core part of someone’s job to being a tiny part because it’s just so much more efficient and so much faster,” Oren says, “Before if there was a menu change, we’d have multiple places to make that menu change. And we’d have to upload multiple photos and do menu modifiers in multiple ways.”

He continues: “With Deliverect, it’s all driven from your POS. Click a button, and voila! – it’s up on all the different apps and channels, and when orders come in, it’s going right into your POS, printed in every station you need it printed in, and you don’t have to do any manual work.”

The unexpected added benefit of higher customer satisfaction

Having implemented Deliverect to make the processes more efficient and save on labor costs, the team noticed another benefit. As they added more automation, customer satisfaction improved.

“When you do a manual entry, mistakes happen,” Oren explains, “Someone forgets to type in that the customer doesn’t want mayo on the sandwich. And that customer gets angry or unhappy with it. Not only do we have to give a refund, we also end up with a customer that doesn’t come back. With Deliverect’s integration into Square, those errors don’t happen anymore.”

Deliverect is essential to Kitchen Hub’s big plans for the future

Kitchen Hub has plans to expand across Canada, and the team is opening up two more locations in the Toronto area this year. On top of the benefits of using Deliverect in the kitchen, Oren says the level of dedicated support has been excellent:

“We have a great account manager with Deliverect who is very on top of the business and very helpful when we need him,” Oren reveals.

Overall, Deliverect has proven an indispensable part of operations as Kitchen Hub has expanded and will continue to be a strong partner to the company as it grows.
