Matcha Mafia and Deliverect - a matcha made in heaven

Green gold

Matcha Mafia was born in March 2019, opening its first matcha café and shop in Amsterdam’s vibrant De Pijp district. Matcha is finely ground high-grade green tea powder - green gold- packed with antioxidants and L-theanine amino acids. Drinking a cup of matcha boosts energy and concentration levels and helps increase your metabolism.

“We produce our very own matcha,” says Alexander Dengler, Owner of Matcha Mafia. “We get it straight from the tea fields in Uji, Japan, where the world’s most traditional matcha farms are. That’s how we guarantee its quality to offer our customers the best.” 

Tradition with a twist

In Japan, matcha is much more than a drink. Special matcha tea ceremonies have been part of Japanese tradition for centuries. “Traditionally, matcha is mixed with water,” Alexander explains. “Matcha’s a very strong, somewhat acquired taste. At Matcha Mafia, we take the Western approach: mix it with vegan milk like almond, coconut, soy, or oat milk. We also add even more special ingredients. We have drinks with turmeric and ginger, we use CBD oil, lavender, black goji berries, and much more. All ingredients are all-natural, and besides great flavor, they offer lots of health properties that are good for you. And they look pretty!”

Integrated delivery approach

At Matcha Mafia, all options were explored before setting up shop. “We didn’t want to start delivery without everything being seamlessly integrated,” continues Alexander. “I wanted to work with a POS system that integrates well with the different delivery partners, so I didn’t have to upload Excel spreadsheets of delivery orders.”

The matcha bar found a partner in Deliverect. “All our orders come in from Uber Eats or Deliveroo, our delivery channels, and then go straight to our POS and order system. This makes the online ordering process similar, if not identical, to our on-site clientele.”

Key features for progress

According to Alexander, the Deliverect solution makes life easier on several fronts. “The most visible advantage for us is the ability to update menus in real-time easily. If I want to add a new drink or food item or take something off the menu, all I have to do is update the menu, push it out, and it will be live on the platform within a few minutes.”

“Another feature we’ve been using is the daily reporting. Every day, I get a report on our sales and numbers. It gives me an overview of our revenue and how much comes from each delivery platform and our in-store retail. It shows me which drinks are sold and which items may not land with our customers. The best thing is that it’s all integrated into one thing, so I don’t have to reconcile different data sheets from our POS, retail store, and delivery partners. It’s saved me a lot of time!”
