Guacamole opened the doors of its first restaurant in 2011 to serve Mexican-inspired food with fresh, natural ingredients.
Birju Kanabar, the founder, fell in love with the restaurant business while studying in England, and, when he returned to Portugal in 2011, he didn't let the financial crisis the country was going through stop him from following his dream. Ten years later, he has five restaurants in the Greater Lisbon area.
"When I came back, there was no fresh guacamole, and there were very few Mexican restaurants," explains the founder. The concept was simple and sought after to make up for the lack of supply in the city while celebrating one of the most famous Mexican dishes: gGuacamole
The leap into delivery
In addition to the focus on freshness and origin of ingredients, the brand seeks to offer a fast service, without being fast food.
"We like technology that improves our service and the customer experience," Birju reveals, and the bet on the delivery service since 2017 is proof of this.
Today, 25% of orders are for delivery through Glovo, Uber Eats, Bolt Food, and their online ordering platform, the transition has not been without challenges.
The difficulties a restaurant faces when starting in delivery, according to GGuacamole'sfounder, are related to managing and balancing work in the store and the fact that the experience at home is never the same as in the room.
The solution is, on the one side, the choice of packaging and the implementation of standard processes that guarantee the quality of the experience at home and in any of the 5 restaurants.
On the other hand, managing delivery orders requires a simplified, optimized, and efficient system - a need that Deliverect's system satisfied.
"We were growing and as more platforms arrived in Portugal we began to feel that managing so many tablets and menus was difficult. The reporting was very complicated," recalls Birju Kanabar. "But then I met Deliverect, saw that it was already a very fine-tuned product and we did the test because it really offered everything we were looking for."

"Overall, it has greatly improved our setup times" for store and delivery, says Birju. By aggregating orders from all platforms on one tablet, the staff doesn't have to worry about which platform or which tablet the order is falling on. They just have to focus on preparation.
The Guacamole founder also highlights faster action on problems thanks to the reporting system.
"Deliverect's reporting is very flexible - we can see store by store, platform by platform - and that helped us a lot to understand our business, to understand where we're doing well, where we're not doing well, and try to improve what we do on a day-to-day basis."
