Lara Grill started serving food in the summer of 2017. Since then, it has had a clear goal: to reach more countries. José Manuel Da Silva, CEO of Lara Grill, tells us: "We started our first location almost 5 years ago, in summer 2017, and our goal from the first moment was clear: we wanted to expand the brand, first territorially, then nationally. Our goal is to internationalize Lara Grill."
Da Silva has been a critical player in the development of the business: "My main role is to help in every area of what makes up the whole Lara Grill machinery: in marketing, human resources, operations, expansion, well, basically, I'm involved in everything. Keeping the accounts, the finances... organizing the whole puzzle with the keys in each department".
The history of Lara Grill
Lara Grill was born in 2016, although it opened its doors in 2017, and, like any good story, it began with a journey. "In Venezuela, there are very iconic pepitos, a sandwich that carries chicken or beef, vegetables, cheese, and different sauces. The Pepito is the main street food product, even more than the hamburger. On one of my trips to Venezuela, I went out to eat pepitos, and I realized that in Spain, there were no restaurants that sold them; I saw the opportunity to exploit this small niche. I was already working in the hospitality industry and thought we could improve things, so I called two of my partners and proposed to them to open a Pepito restaurant in Madrid."
Slow street food, the focus
Between night and night of meetings and planning, the first Lara Grill was born, ready to surprise with its products with a Venezuelan touch. Products that leave no one indifferent: "It was always clear to us that our main products would be the Pepito and the 'batidos.' Milkshakes were becoming fashionable in Venezuela and the United States, but in Spain, there were none, not that kind of milkshake. We were the first to put more than one floor: milkshakes, more cakes, brownies, and Nutella. We have taken it to the maximum expression. That would be our value proposition, differentiating us from other burger joints. But we didn't want to leave burgers aside, a booming market. That is how we came up with the Lara Gill concept," explains Da Silva. Not without forgetting to qualify his products with the adjective "brutal."
Da Silva defines the products they serve as well-prepared fast food and a place to sit and share food with friends: granita, cocktails, Venezuelan starters, and pepitos. A place he calls fusion.
Deliverect, fundamental in their growth
Delivery has been part of Lara Grill from the beginning. Still, this part of the business is not easy: "The worst thing about delivery orders is having to manage the letters individually in each marketplace, also the errors in the tickets, adjusting schedules in each location... you lose a lot of time," confesses Da Silva.
It was at their Barcelona location in 2020 when Deliverect arrived at Lara Grill and did so to change everything: "We started working with Deliverect. The manager in Barcelona fell in love with Deliverect. It changed his life. Then we put Deliverect in all our stores."

Simplicity and analytics: the keys to improvement
Da Silva is clear about what has marked a before and after with Deliverect: "It has helped us in two fundamental ways: being able to duplicate a menu very easily and the analytics, being able to see in one place everything I have sold or how many orders have been taken... It gives you all those possibilities regarding analysis and the best-selling products... that's incredible. It's important to decide which products you sell more, through which channels you sell more of that product."
Da Silva confesses that his previous accounting system was much slower and inefficient: "In terms of data and numbers, I kept the sales in Excel for each of the partners and locations, but the time I spend with Deliverect is one-thousandth of what I used to spend. I don't have to enter any data in Excel. I don't have to pull up any accounts; I don't have to go into any platforms to see how much I've sold and filter... I have it all there. It makes you make decisions faster, which helps you save or sell more."

In addition, he also refers to the fact that orders no longer have to be made manually, which has resulted in time savings for them and happier workers.
