It’s hard to believe we’re already halfway through the year. Time does fly by when you’re having fun. And we, for sure, are having a blast. In the second quarter of 2023, we made significant progress in enabling growth for food businesses of all sizes around the world, and that’s something we love to share as it confirms we’re moving in the right direction.

So —once again— here’s a recap of the milestones and stats that move us forward here at Deliverect.

New solutions to expand our all-in-one growth platform

We acquired ChatFood, a leader in Social Media Ordering, Order & Pay at the Table and Loyalty Solutions. This acquisition provides the restaurant industry with a unified solution to enable profitable growth and exceptional experiences, including social, dine-in QR, direct channel ordering, and online food delivery.

Deliverect Social Media Ordering: Enables restaurants to use Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp as direct sell channels. By leveraging Meta™ powerful business tools, restaurants can create ads and target their customers where they are.

Deliverect Order & Pay: Our new QR code solution speeds up table turn times by up to 10 minutes and improves your customer’s experience. With Deliverect Order & Pay, restaurant customers can open tabs, split bills, and pay directly from an intuitive mobile-optimized interface.

Our new products join our already comprehensive pull of solutions to enable growth in different steps of a restaurant, dark kitchen, and chain restaurant online strategy.

Making orders count

In the first quarter of 2023, we successfully processed 47 million online orders across the globe. This momentum continued into the next quarter, where we witnessed a surge in the numbers, reaching a new high of 52 million orders. This impressive six-month performance accounts for a staggering 73% of the total orders we managed throughout 2022, which stood at 135 million.

But our focus continues beyond sheer order volume. We are committed to enhancing our customers’ profitability and driving transformative change in the global food industry. We are not just counting orders; we are making orders count.

As we move ahead, we promise to keep this commitment at the forefront of all our efforts, shaping a brighter and more innovative future for the worldwide food service industry.

Talking about fascinating numbers:

Friday, April 28th was the day with the most orders (689,256) while 7:10 pm was the time with the highest number of orders. This makes us think that when the workweek ends, the indulgence begins. Consider that for your next promo.

The cities with the most delivery orders: Top 3 ranking

1. London

If someone knows how to enjoy life, those are Londoners. London has been named the city with the most delivery orders worldwide for the third time. Is it the fogginess? Is it the outstanding array of food concepts? It’s a perfect match between creativity, quality, and operational excellence? In our view, it’s a fusion of it all.

2. Toronto

Canada’s largest city, Toronto, secures the silver medal in the global food delivery arena. From poutine to pho, whether it’s through delivery giants like Door Dash, SkipTheDishes, and Uber Eats or via a beloved local restaurant’s delivery service, Toronto delivers whatever its residents crave.

3. Dubai 

Dubai has established itself as a hub for food delivery. Its vibrant culinary scene reflects the city’s diverse cultural mix and readiness to embrace the new while honoring tradition. This vibrant city continues to set the benchmark for culinary variety and innovation in food delivery services. From traditional Emirati cuisine to the most sophisticated global flavors, it’s all just a tap away in Dubai.

The top 3 most ordered food items

As far as the world’s preferred food goes, we’re sure pizza, tacos, and sushi will always be favorites. However, according to our data, this time, Hawaiian signature Poké bowls, classics cheeseburgers, and French fries take the top positions as the most ordered food items. Whether it’s the freshness of a Poké bowl or the comforting familiarity of cheeseburgers and fries, one aspect remains constant — the demand for freshness and quality in food delivery. This priority was highlighted in our ‘Food Inflation Delivery Trends 2022’ report, demonstrating customers’ evolving trends and preferences across the globe.
