      Grupo Nómada: a gastronomic experience without borders 

      Grupo Nómada was born in 2016 to explore Japanese fusion cuisine in a fine dining position. Founded in Lisbon by Rui Raposo de Oliveira, managing partner, and Francisco Bessone, executive chef, the restaurant Nómada gave its name to the Group that recognized, from the outset, the importance of delivery. With different paths, the founders combine two complementary visions of the business that prioritize quality: the food, the service, and the customer experience. 

      "Delivery for us has always been important," says Rui Raposo de Oliveira about implementing the service when Nómada opened. The bet on the delivery service went hand in hand with Uber Eats' entry into the Portuguese market in 2017. In turn, Umikai, a project launched in 2020, was designed exclusively for deliveries and takeaways. With an exclusively online concept, it combines Japanese and Hawaiian influences in a menu that includes pokés and sushi at competitive prices.

      The challenges of managing multiple operations 

      Since Nómada started integrating delivery service, the significant challenges have been offering the experience of a luxury restaurant at home. And with that came additional tasks, such as managing orders and integrating invoicing.

      "I wanted the restaurant to have billing [for delivery orders] at the same POS. And before we had Deliverect, that was done manually. We lost a lot of time. So, regarding human resources, it was a brutal difference."

      Despite benefiting from Nómada's experience, the launch of Umikai was the first exercise in growth and brought its challenges. "Suddenly, we got the growing pains of having to manage multiple operations," recalls the managing partner of Nómada Group. In addition to the exclusive partnership with Uber Eats' platform, Umikai has its channel and in-store pick-up service, reinforcing the need to centralize and automate operation management. 

      With two distinct brands, four spaces to manage, and its fleet of couriers, Grupo Nómada's priority was finding a partner to integrate all of its services into a single system.

      "Integrators are often focused on the different marketplaces and are not worried about the rest. But it's the rest that interests me. I want to integrate my fleets; I want to integrate marketplaces. I want to integrate my website and have this all linked to my invoicing so I don't have to worry.       A partnership with plans for the future

On the horizon is creating a new brand to explore the concept of modern Italian, which will consequently broaden the Group's portfolio and operations. Furthermore, the Group intends to move forward with a geographical expansion of Umikai, opening more shops and spaces to conquer territory.
