The Challenge: Driving Upselling and Add-on Sales
Before the introduction of self-service kiosks, Tacos Avenue was looking to reduce queues at the till, streamline service, and significantly boost sales of additional items, which were largely ignored in most of its locations:
Decongest tills and reduce customer waiting times.
Allow customers to order autonomously through a smooth process.
Increase add-on sales with automated, optimised suggestions.
Ensure seamless integration with the Zelty POS system to simplify menu management.
Maintain positive customer interactions and a welcoming atmosphere despite the shift to digital ordering.
The Solution: 20% Higher Average Transaction Value via Kiosk Upselling
Tacos Avenue has always aimed to stay ahead of the curve, both in developing its menu and adopting new technology.
Shortly after the COVID-19 pandemic, the chain installed its first Deliverect Kiosks and, following several updates, has now equipped the majority of its restaurants with 2 to 4 of the latest FOX kiosks.
What I genuinely appreciate about [Deliverect] is that the company evolves with the times; they never stand still. They have a real focus on research and development, and crucially, the people are human and grounded in real values.
The FOX Kiosk: Ideal, Reliable, Easy to Deploy, and Contactless
Tacos Avenue was impressed by the FOX kiosk's sleek design, which includes integrated contactless payment. There is no need for a separate card terminal or receipt printer. This eliminates the hassle of changing paper rolls and paper jams during peak service. The 22-inch screen is perfectly sized—neither too big nor too small. Installation is straightforward: just a power socket and WiFi, and it's ready to go. The kiosk is highly stable, with virtually no freezes or crashes.
Add-on Sales Boost the Average Spend
The customer journey is carefully designed for the benefit of both the customer and the restaurant. Tacos Avenue customises the automated suggestions to promote meal deals, popular desserts like Bueno Tiramisu, and extras such as fries or nuggets. Thanks to the kiosks, the average customer spend was 20% higher compared to orders taken at the counter in 2024.
Smoother, More Productive Service
Queuing times are reduced, and customers are fully self-sufficient when placing their orders. Staff members are freed up from the counter and can focus on food preparation, quality control, and providing excellent table service and customer welcome.
Integration with Zelty (POS) and Hey Pongo (Loyalty)
Tacos Avenue manages its kiosk menus directly from Zelty (the POS), and orders are sent straight to the kitchen. The Pongo loyalty scheme (similar to UK platforms like Yotpo Loyalty or Smile.io) is accessible at the start of the ordering process, allowing customers to easily collect or use their points.
Human Support that Aligns with Tacos Avenue’s Values
Tacos Avenue highly values the close working relationship and availability of the Deliverect team. Support is straightforward and always responsive. This trusting partnership perfectly matches the chain's emphasis on accessibility and community spirit.
A Pleasant Customer Experience that Keeps the Human Touch
Tacos Avenue was initially concerned about a loss of human interaction, but the experience has shown the opposite. Staff continue to greet customers, chat with them, and check that their meal was enjoyable, ensuring the friendly, personal connection that the brand holds dear is preserved.
The Results
20% higher average transaction value
2.5% increase in total order volume
7% of revenue from upsells
