ENHow Deliverect is Bringing the Whole team Together in VR for Christmas
Saying that 2020 was a challenging year is an understatement. Not only did the pandemic deeply affect the restaurant and food industry, including our customers, it also changed the way we work as a company.
When we founded Deliverect, we knew we wanted to be a people-first company. Without the hard work of our team members, we could not provide our services to our customers. Our employees see each other more as friends than co-workers, and teamwork, open communication, and celebrating success are crucial building blocks of our company culture.
I'll admit that having an extravagant Christmas party is also a massive part of our culture. We were incredibly disappointed that we couldn't celebrate Christmas together as a team this year due to Covid-19 restrictions. We thought it would be impossible... Or was it?
Oculus Quest 2 and VR to the rescue!
To give you a heads-up, over the past 12 months, Deliverect has been growing tremendously. We now have over 14 million processed orders from around the globe, and we've also been dramatically increasing our staff numbers.
However, due to the pandemic, many of our new employees have yet to have the chance to meet each other face-to-face.
Enter: my plan to get everyone together in virtual reality!
Mid-December, I asked all founders to dress up as Santa, and in true Deliverect style we went on to deliver our employees' Christmas present to their doorstep: an Oculus Quest 2 VR headset. With this headset, everyone can join a specially designed virtual reality (VR) Christmas party on 18 December.
All of our 114 employees will be in one virtual room hosted by AltspaceVR, the premier VR events space for live big shows, parties, seminars, and corporate gatherings. I can’t wait to see the full team in there and give them a virtual high-five! I hope that everyone gets their (virtual) dance on and that this unique event alleviates the stress caused by lack of social contact due to Covid.
Deliverect will double in size in 2021
